The Fix You Can't See Because You're Too Close

Founder and Head of Growth, White Label Comedy
When you are truly stuck on a problem, the answer is often sitting right in front of you, and you cannot see it precisely because you are too close. You can burn hours going round in circles on something a person with fresh eyes would solve in seconds. The fastest fix is usually not to try harder. It is to get an outside perspective.
The keys on the hook
I once tore the house apart looking for my keys while running catastrophically late. Under the sofa, under the fridge, everywhere. Nothing. Fully wound up and convinced they had vanished, I finally asked my partner for help. It took them about three seconds.
The keys were on the key hook. The hook I had bought and installed specifically so this would never happen. I had looked in a dozen ridiculous places and completely failed to check the one obvious spot, because I was too flustered to see it. A calm outsider spotted it instantly.
Being too close hides the obvious
This happens far more than we admit, and it is not a sign you are bad at your job. It is just how being stuck works. When you are wound tight on a problem, your attention narrows. You keep re-checking the same dead ends and skip straight past the simple answer, because your brain has already decided where the problem must be.
Your marketing is exactly the same. Maybe your posts are getting no engagement, your emails keep bouncing, or you cannot work out the angle for your next campaign. You have stared at it so long that every option looks equally blocked. The fix may well be simple. You just cannot see it from where you are standing.
Ask before you exhaust yourself
The move is to stop grinding and bring in fresh eyes before you have burned all your energy. Someone outside the problem is not smarter than you, they are just not tangled in it. They can look at the whole thing cleanly and point at the hook while you are still checking under the fridge.
So next time you have been going round in circles, take that as the signal, not to push harder, but to ask. Grab a coffee, get an outside opinion, and let someone with distance show you the answer that was there the whole time. It is almost always simpler than the mess you had built in your head.
Work with us
When your social media is the thing you are too close to, an outside team that does this every day can often see the fix straight away, the one you have been circling for weeks.
That fresh perspective, plus the people to act on it, is exactly what we bring. If you are tired of going round in circles on your own socials, work with us and let us show you the hook.
